Leonard is a tiny community of 12 people in north-central Minnesota's lake country, about 20 miles northeast of Bagley via County Road 15. Surrounded by dense forests and wetlands, it sits on Leonard Lake in a remote corner of Clearwater County. Most visitors come from Bemidji (35 miles southeast via Highway 2) for fishing and hunting in the pristine north woods. The community takes its name from the modest lake that serves as its geographic centerpiece.
