Lemmon is a small ranching town of 1,200 people in northwestern South Dakota, eight miles from the North Dakota border. US Highway 12 runs right through town as the main street, connecting east to Aberdeen and west into Montana, while State Highway 73 heads north to the border. The Petrified Wood Park features unique buildings constructed entirely from fossils and petrified wood found locally.
