Leighton is a small Tennessee Valley community in northwest Alabama, home to about 900 people in Colbert County. US Highway 72 runs right through town, connecting it to Tuscumbia 10 miles east and the Florence-Muscle Shoals area to the west. The volunteer fire department station doubles as the town's main community gathering spot for local events.
