Lefors is a small Texas Panhandle town of 557 people, located 45 miles northeast of Amarillo via Highway 273. Most visitors drive Interstate 40 to Pampa, then take Highway 273 south about 10 miles through ranch country. The town sits on the high plains at 2,800 feet elevation, serving local farming and oil operations. Lefors is the boyhood home of country music star Mac Davis, who wrote hits for Elvis Presley.
