united states

Lecompton is a small Kansas River town about 12 miles northwest of Lawrence via US-24. With around 700 residents, it sits in rolling prairie country between Lawrence Municipal and Philip Billard airports. The town briefly served as Kansas's territorial capital and still preserves Constitution Hall, where the controversial pro-slavery Lecompton Constitution was drafted in 1857 during the "Bleeding Kansas" era.
