Leadville North is a high-altitude mountain community at over 10,000 feet in Colorado's Lake County. Access is primarily via US Highway 24, which connects to I-70 near Minturn about 25 miles northeast. The route from Denver involves taking I-70 west to the Minturn exit, then US 24 south through the Arkansas River valley. Winter driving requires preparation for extreme cold and sudden weather changes. The town sits higher than most ski resort bases, often placing residents literally above the clouds.
