Lawndale is a small residential city in LA's South Bay, easily reached via the 405 freeway with exits at Hawthorne Boulevard or Redondo Beach Boulevard. LAX is just 15 minutes away, and the Metro Green Line provides rail connections to downtown LA. The city sits between Hawthorne and Torrance in a mild coastal climate. Charles Wilson Park contains a rare surviving WPA-era community center from the 1930s.
