Lavonia sits in northeast Georgia's rolling hills, about 100 miles from Atlanta via I-85 north to exit 177, then Highway 17 north. Local routes include Highway 17 to nearby Toccoa and Highway 145 heading west. The city serves as a gateway to Lake Hartwell recreation areas. Downtown features the historic Lavonia Carnegie Library, built in 1917 and still operating today.
