Laurium is a small former mining town in Michigan's snowy Upper Peninsula, reached via US-41 about 8 miles north of Houghton. Long-distance visitors typically drive up from the Mackinac Bridge on US-41, while locals make quick trips south to Houghton for services. The Laurium Manor Inn, a grand 1908 copper baron's mansion with original Tiffany windows, now operates as a distinctive bed and breakfast.
