Laurel is a small farming town in northeastern Nebraska, about 30 miles west of Sioux City via Highway 20. The community of just over 1,000 people sits in Cedar County's agricultural heartland, connected to Norfolk and other regional centers by Highways 20 and 81. The town's massive concrete grain elevator, built in 1917, still towers over Main Street and serves area farmers.
