Laurel Mountain is a tiny Westmoreland County community of about 100 people reached via Route 981, roughly 35 miles east of Pittsburgh. Visitors typically drive through New Alexandria or Mount Pleasant to get there, with Arnold Palmer Regional Airport 15 miles away. The area's claim to fame is the mountain laurel that blooms in spectacular pink and white clusters each late May.
