Latexo is a tiny East Texas community of about 250 people, located 20 miles southwest of Crockett via Highway 7 and FM 2022. Visitors from Houston take US 287 north through Huntsville, then connect to Highway 19 and Highway 7. The town sits in rolling pine country with a humid subtropical climate. The name comes from the Louisiana and Texas Railroad's "LA-TEX" abbreviation from when they built a stop here in the early 1900s.
