Lancaster is the Garrard County seat about 35 miles south of Lexington on US Route 27, Kentucky's main north-south corridor through the Bluegrass region. The route connects daily commuters with Lexington while serving tourists exploring central Kentucky's rolling farmland. State routes 52 and 39 provide local connections, and the Western Kentucky Parkway sits 20 miles south for interstate access. The 1897 courthouse with its prominent clock tower has been keeping time on the town square for more than a century.
