Lakota is a small farming town in north-central North Dakota, about 90 miles northwest of Grand Forks. US Highway 2 runs east-west through town as the main route, while State Highway 1 heads north-south toward Devils Lake. The area is classic prairie farmland with grain elevators and agricultural businesses. The bright blue water tower with "Lakota" painted in white letters stands out for miles across the flat landscape.
