Lakeside hugs the south shore of Storm Lake in northwest Iowa, connected by US Highway 71 running north-south and Iowa Highway 7 along the lake. Most visitors arrive from Storm Lake three miles north or make longer trips from Sioux City via US 71 and Highway 20. The town of 563 hosts its annual Sunken Gardens Festival in a hillside amphitheater overlooking the lake.
