Lakeport sits on Clear Lake, California's largest natural freshwater lake, about 120 miles north of San Francisco. Highway 29 runs north-south through town, connecting to Napa Valley, while Highway 20 provides the main east-west route from Highway 101. The area draws visitors for bass fishing and wine tasting, with several lakefront RV parks and marinas. Clear Lake is actually larger than Lake Tahoe by surface area, though much shallower.
