The town sits in New Jersey's pine barrens, giving it a rural feel despite being well-connected to major highways. Most visitors arrive via Route 37 from the Parkway or Route 70 from the west. The community of 2,700 is best known as the site of the 1937 Hindenburg disaster at the local naval air station.
