Lake Park is a small Union County city just 20 miles south of Charlotte via I-77. Highway 521 provides the main access from both Charlotte and South Carolina, making it a popular route for cross-border trips. The rolling Piedmont landscape features suburban neighborhoods mixed with small lakes that inspired the city's name. Twelve Mile Creek winds through the southern part of town, eventually connecting to the Catawba River system.
