Lake Ozark is a small lakeside city in central Missouri that serves as a gateway to the popular Lake of the Ozarks recreation area. Most visitors arrive via US Highway 54, which runs directly through town and connects to Jefferson City (45 miles) and Springfield (90 miles). From major cities, it's about 150 miles from Kansas City via US 50 and US 54, or 140 miles from St. Louis via I-44 and US 63. The city sits right at Bagnell Dam, the 1931 concrete arch structure that created the entire lake system.
