Lake Crystal is a small farming town in south-central Minnesota, built around a clear glacial lake that gives the community its name. Highway 60 runs directly through town, connecting east to Mankato (15 miles) and west toward the Iowa border. Most visitors arrive via Highway 169 south from the Twin Cities, then Highway 60 west. The restored 1890s Opera House downtown still hosts live theater performances on its original stage.
