Lafayette is a small farming town of 484 people in south-central Minnesota's Nicollet County. Highway 15 runs north-south through town, connecting to New Ulm 8 miles south and Sleepy Eye 12 miles north, while County Road 21 provides east-west access. Most long-distance visitors arrive via Interstate 94 or Highway 14 from the Twin Cities, about 90 miles away. The town's 1902 grain elevator still operates today and serves as a visible landmark across the surrounding farmland.
