Laconia anchors New Hampshire's Lakes Region between Lake Winnipesaukee and Winnisquam Lake. US Route 3 runs north-south through town, while Route 11 connects east-west to I-93 and the Seacoast. Most visitors arrive from I-93 via Route 11, about 90 miles from Boston. The city transforms each June during Motorcycle Week, when over 300,000 bikers descend on this normally quiet town of 17,000.
