Lacon, the Marshall County seat, sits on the Illinois River about 25 miles northwest of Peoria via US 150 and Route 17. This small river town of 1,900 connects to the Quad Cities on Route 17 west and reaches I-39 eastbound for Chicago access. The 1896 courthouse with its towering clock has anchored the town square for over 125 years.
