Labette is a tiny Kansas community along US Highway 166 in the southeastern part of the state. Located about 15 miles east of Parsons and 25 miles from the Missouri border, it's accessible via US 166 east-west and connects to US 400 from Independence to the north. The settlement sits in rolling prairie country typical of eastern Kansas and gets its name from the French "la bette," meaning beetroot.
