La Plata is a small county seat in north-central Missouri, accessible via US Highway 63 about 30 miles southwest of Kirksville. The town serves surrounding farm country and connects to major cities through US 63 south to Interstate 70. Its 1921 limestone courthouse with clock tower anchors the traditional town square.
