La Junta is a railroad town in southeastern Colorado where US 50 and US 350 intersect, about 65 miles east of Pueblo. The Arkansas River runs through this agricultural hub of 7,140 people, surrounded by sugar beet farms and cattle ranches. Most visitors arrive via US 50 from Pueblo or continue east toward Kansas. The Koshare Museum houses an impressive collection of Native American artifacts from southwestern tribes.
