La Harpe is a farming town of 1,300 people in western Illinois, about 25 miles from the Mississippi River. Most visitors drive Route 94 north from Macomb or cross from Iowa via Burlington. The area features rolling prairie and experiences typical Midwest weather. The town's massive grain elevator towers over the landscape and can be seen for miles across the flat farmland.
