La Esperanza is a small farming town of 347 people in Starr County, about 45 miles west of McAllen via US Highway 83. The main route from San Antonio takes US 281 south for 180 miles before connecting to US 83. EV drivers should charge in Rio Grande City beforehand. The town's name means "The Hope" in Spanish.
