Kobuk is a remote Iñupiaq village of about 100 people in Alaska's Northwest Arctic Borough, accessible only by small aircraft through Kobuk Airport. No roads connect it to Alaska's highway system. The community sits along the clear-running Kobuk River, surrounded by boreal forest where residents practice traditional subsistence alongside modern life, and you can spot Arctic char swimming over the gravel riverbed during summer salmon runs.
