Knobel is a small farming town in northeastern Arkansas, just 15 miles from Missouri. Highway 135 runs right through town, connecting south to Piggott and Highway 62, then on to Jonesboro about 45 miles away. For longer trips, Interstate 55 is about 35 miles east through Missouri. The surrounding countryside is laid out in geometric patterns of rice fields and cotton farms typical of the Arkansas Delta.
