Kismet is a small farming town of 400 people in far southwest Kansas, just 15 miles from the Oklahoma border. US Highway 83 runs right through town, connecting north to Liberal (20 miles) and south into Oklahoma, making it a regular stop for cross-state travelers. The town sits in wheat country with a prominent grain elevator alongside the railroad tracks that's been serving local farmers for over a century.
