Kilmarnock is the small commercial hub of Virginia's Northern Neck peninsula, about 90 miles southeast of DC between the Rappahannock and Potomac rivers. Most visitors arrive via US-360 from Richmond or Route 3 from the Washington area, both scenic drives through rural Virginia. The 1860 Lancaster County Courthouse on Main Street still handles county business and displays Civil War memorabilia.
