This tiny Carlton County town of 140 people sits along Highway 73, about 30 miles north of Moose Lake and 45 miles from Duluth via I-35. Most visitors are either heading to the Iron Range or exploring the Kettle River's glacially carved potholes and rapids. The town's name comes from these distinctive rock formations that early settlers thought resembled giant kettles.
