Kermit is a tiny coal mining town in southwestern West Virginia near the Kentucky border, home to about 150 people in the Tug Fork River valley. Reach it via US Route 52 along the river or State Route 65 from the east, with I-64 through Huntington being the main long-distance route. The town was named after Kermit Roosevelt, Theodore Roosevelt's son, during the early 1900s coal boom.
