Kermit is a small oil town in west Texas's Permian Basin, about 45 miles west of Midland via Interstate 20 and Highway 302. The town serves as Winkler County's seat and sits amid desert landscapes dotted with oil wells. Highway 302 runs east-west through town, connecting to Monahans and continuing toward New Mexico. Named after Kermit Roosevelt, Theodore Roosevelt's son, who hunted in the area during the early 1900s.
