Kensett is a small farming town in north-central Iowa, accessible via Highway 9 which runs east-west through Worth County. The main route connects Forest City (12 miles west) to Osage and Interstate 35 to the east. Most traffic is local or regional, with Mason City about 30 miles south for major services. The 1904 Kensett Opera House on Main Street recalls when the railroad brought traveling shows to this prairie community.
