Kennard is a tiny East Texas town of 270 people nestled in the pine forests of Houston County. Located on Highway 7 between Crockett and Grapeland, it's about 20 miles from either direction and sits within the Davy Crockett National Forest boundary. The humid climate and dense woods create a classic piney woods atmosphere. The town's claim to fame is its proximity to where the old Ratcliff Lake Recreation Area once operated among the towering pines.
