Kenilworth is a small Union County borough wedged between I-78 and the Garden State Parkway, about 20 miles from Manhattan. Route 22 cuts through town as the main commercial strip, while Routes 439 and 509 handle local traffic to neighboring Elizabeth and Cranford. Newark Airport is 8 miles southeast via Route 1-9. The town is headquarters to pharmaceutical giant Merck & Co., whose massive research campus has anchored the local economy since the 1930s.
