Kemp is a small East Texas town of about 1,300 people, located 45 miles southeast of Dallas in Kaufman County. Take I-20 east to Exit 533, then Highway 274 south to reach the town center. The area sits in rolling countryside where North Texas plains meet the Piney Woods, with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Kemp serves as the main gateway to Cedar Creek Lake, a 32,000-acre reservoir famous for excellent bass fishing.
