Kearns is an unincorporated community about 15 miles southwest of Salt Lake City, accessible via I-215 exits at 4700 South and 5400 South. Originally built as wartime housing in the 1940s, it's now a diverse suburban area with the Oquirrh Mountains as a western backdrop. The Utah Olympic Oval, the 2002 Winter Olympics speed skating venue, still hosts international competitions here.
