Kasota is a small Minnesota River town of 554 people, 15 miles northeast of Mankato via Highway 169. The main route connects Mankato to the Twin Cities, making this a convenient stop for regional travelers. The town sits in rolling prairie with the river creating fertile farmland nearby. Kasota Stone Company has quarried distinctive pink limestone here since the 1880s, supplying stone for the Minnesota State Capitol and other major buildings.
