Karthaus is a tiny river town of 200 people tucked into Pennsylvania's forested interior along the West Branch Susquehanna River. Reach it via State Route 879 from US 219, about 25 miles south of DuBois or 30 miles from Punxsutawney. The town operates one of Pennsylvania's oldest post offices, continuously serving residents since 1828 from its original stone building.
