Kansas is a small farming town of about 900 people in eastern Illinois, right near the Indiana border in Edgar County. Drive Illinois Route 16 east from Paris (12 miles) or connect via Interstate 70 about 30 miles south. The town was platted in 1872 and locals distinctly pronounce it "KAN-zis," not like Arkansas.
