Kanopolis is a small central Kansas town of 550 people that serves as the gateway to Kanopolis State Park. Located 20 miles northwest of Ellsworth via Route 140, most visitors arrive from I-70 at Exit 219. The town sits near Kanopolis Lake, a 3,500-acre reservoir that's one of Kansas's oldest federal lake projects from 1948.
