Johnstown is a small city of about 8,100 people in New York's Fulton County, roughly 45 miles northwest of Albany in the Adirondack foothills. Route 29 runs right through town connecting to Gloversville five miles east, while Route 30 heads north into the mountains. Most visitors arrive via I-90 and Route 30A through Fonda. The historic Knox Mansion, a striking 1878 Victorian with an elaborate mansard roof, now houses the county museum.
