Jefferson is a small town of about 700 people in rural South Carolina, roughly an hour northeast of Charlotte. Take US Highway 1 to reach it, with State Route 265 running through the center of town. The area features typical Piedmont countryside with pine forests and farmland. The old Seaboard Air Line Railway depot still stands as a reminder of when Jefferson was an important rail stop.
