Jay is a small town in northwest Florida's Santa Rosa County, about 45 miles northeast of Pensacola via US 29 north to State Road 4. The main route through town is SR 4, which connects to Interstate 65 in Alabama and US 85 near Crestview. With 796 residents, Jay sits in rolling hill country covered by longleaf pine forests. The town operates on Central Time, unlike most of Florida, and hosts the annual Jay Peanut Festival celebrating local peanut farming.
