Janesville lies along Highway 14 in south-central Minnesota, about 20 miles west of Interstate 35. Most visitors use Highway 14 as their main route, connecting to Mankato (25 miles west) or Owatonna (20 miles east). The historic Janesville Opera House from 1902 still hosts community theater productions in this agricultural town of 2,400 residents.
