Jamestown is a tiny mountain town of 300 people perched at 6,900 feet in Boulder County's foothills. Take Highway 36 west from Boulder, then wind 13 miles up Left Hand Canyon Drive through steep, scenic terrain. Popular with day-trippers from Denver and Boulder, the drive takes about 45 minutes from Boulder. The historic Jamestown Mercantile from 1899 still operates as the town's general store with original wooden floors.
