Jacksonville sits in East Texas pine country, about two hours from Dallas via I-20 and Highway 69. This Cherokee County seat connects Tyler (20 minutes south) with points north toward Arkansas on US 69, while Highway 79 provides east-west access. Cherokee County Airport serves private aircraft just outside town. The city still celebrates its agricultural heritage each June with the Tomato Festival, crowning a Tomato Queen in honor of its nickname as the "Tomato Capital of East Texas."
